2. Buatlah Beberapa Alternatif
Anda harus selektif memilih rumah yang akan disewa. Sediakan beberapa 'kandidat' rumah dan seleksi mana yang paling baik dan sesuai dengan budget. Jika tertarik pada satu pilihan, jangan langsung memutuskan untuk menyewanya. Periksa dulu dengan hati-hati, bagaimana kondisi bangunan, saluran air, sanitari, pintu, jendela, sampai aliran listriknya. Jika kurang memenuhi syarat, Anda bisa mencari pilihan kedua atau ketiga.

3. Negosiasi Harga
Ketika menemukan rumah sewa yang diinginkan, Anda bisa menawar harga sewa per bulan untuk mengurangi pengeluaran. Biasanya, harga sewa akan lebih murah bila Anda membayar untuk enam bulan sampai satu tahun ke depan. Jadi bila punya budget untuk setahun, sebaiknya bayar sewa sekaligus.

4. Pastikan Fasilitas yang Didapat
Sebelum kesepakatan harga, tanyakan apakah biaya sewa sudah termasuk pembayaran listrik, air dan keamanan. Hal ini untuk mengantisipasi pengeluaran uang Anda per bulannya. Jika uang sewa belum termasuk fasilitas tersebut, jadi Anda bisa menyiapkan uang untuk kebutuhan tersebut.

5. Jangan Ragu Melapor Bila Ada Masalah
Periksa keadaan rumah seteliti mungkin. Segera laporkan pada pemilik atau makelar rumah bila ada masalah. Misalnya, dinding atau lantai yang telah retak, lampu yang tidak menyala, aliran air tidak lancar atau pagar yang rusak. Pastikan pemilik sudah memperbaikinya sebelum Anda menempati rumah tersebut.
